Sacramento boy arrested, family dog hospitalized

SACRAMENTO - A young boy was arrested Sunday after police say he stabbed the family dog in the head with a knife.
Sacramento police reports indicated a witness saw the boy playing with the dog and then suddenly stab it in the head.
Police responded to the home on the 400 block of Hawkcrest Circle around 3:21 p.m., found the stabbed dog and apprehended the boy.
The youth was arrested on a charge of animal torture and transported to juvenile hall.
The dog was taken to a nearby vet for treatment.
