No Nigerian University Made It To The Top 1000 Universities In The World

In a latest university ranking by the Center For
World University Ranking Show, none of Nigeria
numerous universities made at least the first 1000
best universities in the world.
The ranking was done by the Centre for World
University Rankings show.The center uses eight
objective indicators to rank the world’s top 1,000
universities which are quality of education, alumni
employment, quality of faculty, publications,
influence, citations, broad impact and patents.
The United States of America has eight universities
in the top 10.
Harvard University is ranked first while Stanford
University ranked second, followed by
Massachusetts Institute of Technolog as third.
University of Cambridge came forth while the
University of Oxford was ranked fifth.
The University of Witwatersrand in South Africa
was the highest ranked university in Africa which
ranked 149th followed by Mansoura University in
Egypt which emerged 988th.
In an earlier ranking done by Journals Consortium,
only one Nigerian university made it to the list of
top 10 African universities.
Nigeria’s University of Ibadan beaten by six South
African schools was ranked eight on the list.
The Center for World University Rankings publishes
the only global university ranking that measures
the quality of education and training of students,
as well as the prestige of the faculty members and
the quality of their research without relying on
surveys and university data submissions.
